Beyond the Paint

This painting tells the story of a white parrot, once the undisputed winner of a yearly competition to crown the most gorgeous bird. For years, the white bird’s purity and beauty were unmatched, until a group of jealous birds conspired to sabotage its chance at victory. On the day of the competition, they poured vibrant colors of paint onto the white parrot, hoping to ruin its pristine feathers and diminish its glory. When the time came for judging, the white bird was nowhere to be found, and the judges were left with only the other competitors. Yet, despite its painted appearance, the white bird still stepped forward, revealing its true self beneath the layers of paint. In the end, it was this bird—transformed yet resilient—that was chosen for its vibrancy and display of colors.
This piece is a reflection of my own spiritual journey, as told within my religion, where each person’s story is embodied by different animals. The white parrot’s story is my story—a reminder that no matter the hardships we face or the attempts to change us, we always have the power to rise above and make a difference. It’s a testament to the strength within, where true beauty and resilience lie not in perfection, but in our ability to stand strong and embrace transformation.
